Dermal fillers
Dermal fillers smooth out lines, wrinkles and creases by plumping out the skin and restoring the volume lost through ageing, leaving a fresher brighter and more youthful look.
AREAS TREATED
Dermal fillers can be used to treat all facial areas but are most commonly and effectively used to treat the signs of aging in the lower face. These areas include the deep lines and wrinkles that run from:
Cheeks
Temples
Jawline
Chin
Nasiolabial folds (The nose to the corners of the mouth)
Marionette lines (The corners of the mouth down towards the chin)
Smoker’s lines (Above the upper lip)
The aim of treatment is to achieve subtle, yet natural result that leave the skin firmer, refreshed and looking hydrated.
CLINICAL PROCEDURE
A numbing cream may be applied on the skin in the area to be treated for several minutes after which time the smooth gel is injected under the skin using an ultra fine needle or cannula. The gel itself also contains a local anesthetic which minimises any discomfort experienced. The total treatment time is 30 minutes. depending on the number of areas to be treated and the amount of filler used.
Are they safe?
I use only the most well known and trusted brands including Restylane by Galderma and Teoxane which are both approved by the US FDA and conform to EU health regulations
HOW DERMAL FILLERS WORK
Dermal fillers contain hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring sugar which is gradually lost from the skin as we age. Young skin is constantly moisturised from within by hyaluronic acid. This acid absorbs moisture and keeps skin well-hydrated.
As we age, the skin’s natural hyaluronic acid is lost this results in a visible loss of volume and dry skin followed by the formation of wrinkles and folds.
Facial fillers can replenish the hyaluronic acid deep within the skin where moisturisers cannot reach. It is injected as a smooth gel into the wrinkle or fold, thus plumping the area out and giving an instant lift.
HOW LONG DO THE RESULTS LAST?
Depending on the area treated and the volume of filler used, results last anywhere from 6-12 months.
side effects of treatment
As the treatment is nonsurgical, there is very little recovery time. Some people experience a little temporary redness, tenderness, swelling or bruising around the injection sites.
